Rumer Willis, the daughter of Demi Moore and Bruce Willis, showed up on the red carpet this week wearing a controversial skirt, and after the web went crazy with the photos, she took to Twitter to explain herself.

Willis attended the Elle Women In Music fete on Tuesday wearing a black skirt with several cutouts along the side, which showed off a lot of leg and a flash of something else: her underwear. Willis, who has been a successful musician for a while now and performed in For The Record: Tarantino in West Hollywood recently, got onstage to do covers of TLC’s “Waterfalls” and Carly Simon’s “You’re So Vain”, among other songs.

The actress and musician has been chided about her “wardrobe malfunction” ever since online, but she says she was just trying to coordinate her outfit to her new tresses.

Willis also pointed out a news story via Twitter about a teenager who hid a loaded gun in her vagina, joking that the media was paying too much attention to her underwear.
