  • Rumor has it Rumer Willis is headed for Broadway. The daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore won the coveted Mirror Ball Trophy on Dancing with the Stars. Now Rumer Willis will have to put her dance skills to the test against Bob Fosse-style choreography.

Rumer is slated to play Roxie Hart in the currently-running Broadway revival of Chicago. The question is: Can Rumer sing?

Meanwhile, Bruce Willis is also headed to Broadway. Just as Rumer’s run in Chicago is coming to an end, Bruce will star in the Broadway adaptation of Stephen King’s Misery.

Both the Willis’ roles are already famous thanks to film adaptations. Rumer’s role as Roxie Hart was famously filled by Renee Zellweger in the film version of Chicago. Opposite her as Velma Kelly was Catherine Zeta-Jones.

Bruce Willis will play novelist Paul Sheldon, a role made famous by James Caan opposite Kathy Bates in the film version of Misery. Bruce Willis will, presumably, not be singing in the role. But of the father-daughter pair heading to Broadway, he is the one with a singing career under his belt.

In 1987, Bruce Willis released The Return of Bruno on Motown Records. The single “Respect Yourself,” with the Staple Singers backing him up, hit the radio. Willis has often hopped on the stage with music acts when he was part-owner of Planet Hollywood, blowing harmonica and singing with bands.

Whether or not Rumer Willis will be able to carry the load that singer Brandy Norwood is currently toting remains to be seen. Songs like “Funny Honey” and “My Own Best Friend” will put her to the test.

Rumer Willis will also spend a lot of time in her underwear for the show. The musical is famous for putting many characters in skimpy costumes, most seemingly lingerie.
