  • Ronda Rousey was expected by many to resume her fighting schedule this summer, after taking a lengthy break following her stunning defeat at the hands of Holly Holm late last year. Now, it looks like she’ll take more time off than originally planned in order to work out her filming schedule.

Rousey, who has long balanced fighting with a movie career, will be starring in the Roadhouse remake. Filming has been pushed back, according to UFC President Dana White, and Rousey wants time to focus on just one thing.

“The filming of the movie got pushed back. She could do both, but the question is, should she do both? She could do both, but why should she? The filming is in a time frame where she’d finish before 200, but it would be cutting it too close,” White said.

UFC 200, which will take place in July, has been the expected return date for Rousey after Holly Holm said she wanted a rematch. However, Holm will now fight Rousey’s archenemy Miesha Tate in March, which puts a new spin on things. If Tate wins that match, it’s unclear weather White will still pursue a rematch between Holm and Rousey.

Holm said soon after her win that she thought a rematch “made sense” for the two women. Fans have been eager to see what would happen when the pair get back in the cage together after the shocking defeat, which was Rousey’s first in an unbroken career.

“I think a rematch makes sense for sure. I’ve been on the losing side of a fight and I wanted the rematch, I wanted to avenge my loss. With a champion like Ronda – who has gone out of her way, above and beyond, to do great things – absolutely she deserves a rematch. I don’t look at this belt and think I’ve made it. I think I still have things that I need to do. I think a rematch, I think that’s kind of unspoken common sense to me,” Holm said.

Rousey disappeared from social media and from the public eye immediately after the fight, but recently began to appear more and more in the spotlight. She shared a photo on Instagram from a Sports Illustrated photo shoot, in which she’ll appear in nothing but body paint for the swimsuit issue.
