  • Ronda Rousey has proven herself as a force to be reckoned with within the UFC arena, where she’s defeated every single opponent brave enough to face her (in a matter of seconds, no less). And while she still has detractors, she’s pushing on because she says she doesn’t want the fact that she’s a female to forever be associated with her career.

“I want my name to be mentioned along with Mike Tyson and Muhammad Ali. And I don’t want the word woman to be in front of champion,” Rousey said in a recent interview with Self Magazine.

The MMA champ has risen so far so fast during her time with the UFC that president Dana White joked earlier this year that he might have to start pitting her against male fighters.

“She’s gonna have to start fighting men if she walks through Cat Zingano. If Ronda Rousey walks through Cat Zingano the way she has walked through every body else, I don’t know what to do with her,” he said ahead of Ronda’s February match against Zingano.

Rousey is seemingly everywhere these days, between her fighting career, her film career, and the various magazine covers she’s taken over. As with the recent Sports Illustrated shoot, Rousey wasn’t afraid to bare a little skin for the Self images, showing off her strong body in a black bathing suit. For her, staying in shape is a must, but she fully endorses healthy, strong bodies rather than dieting to fit into Hollywood standard, a rare trait in a movie star.

“I love feeling like I’m inhabiting the body of a ninja, like I could rob a liquor store with my bare hands if I wanted to,” Ronda Rousey said.
