  • Daniel Williams has a dream. He wants to make a video game starring Ron Paul, presidential candidate and friend of the Internet. His dreams have come true as his Kickstarter has reached the $5,000 needed to complete the browser game.

If you’re utterly bewildered as to why somebody would make a game based on Ron Paul, don’t be. It’s a simple concept really. Williams explains his vision on the Kickstarter page:

The Road to REVOLution is a sidescrolling platformer action/adventure game, reminiscent of console classics like Super Mario Brothers and Sonic the Hedgehog.

You play the role of Ron Paul and make your way across all 50 states collecting Gold (sound money) and Delegates.

Collect Delegates to ensure your seat as the President, collect Gold Coins to unlock branches of the Federal Reserve where you defeat bosses and progress your quest to end the Federal Reserve.

Regardless of your opinion on Ron Paul, that just sounds awesome. While the political overtones are apparent, that shouldn’t stop you from enjoying a fun platformer starring one of the most entertaining politicians of our time.

The game’s features are also shaping up to be a pretty fun romp through the entirety of the United States. That means at least 50 levels with each one being based on each state. Here’s the full feature list:

50+ Levels designed around each of the United States

13 Boss Fights representing each branch of the Federal Reserve

Challenging puzzle-platformer element. There’s no ‘beating up monsters until they’re dead’ aspect. You must guide the baddies through each level.

    Original soundtrack

    Bonus unlockable characters

There’s still 12 days to go on the Kickstarter. While the game has already reached its goal, I’m sure a few more dollars won’t hurt. Besides, this is the American dream, right? Building a video game based on a presidential candidate should be on everybody’s to do list.
