  • While season two of Netflix’s House of Cards opened strongly with the viewers – with 670,000 people watching all 13 episodes during its opening weekend – its third season began in hot-water with the state of Maryland. Until April 25, the House of Cards crew did not know whether or not it would be able to continue shooting in its home state of Maryland due to issues between producers and state politicians. Perhaps the delay in a shooting locale is why star Robin Wright, who plays Claire Underwood, the Second Lady, in House of Cards, is so desperate to get in shape before the beginning of season three.

Wright, age 48, initially expressed fears about taking the role of Claire Underwood during auditions due to her age and physique: “I was sitting there going, ‘You’re 45, and you’re not gonna get a face-lift.’ I was really considering that stuff, because in Hollywood the pressure’s there. You better lift that face and pump those lips and hike those boobs! And I was like, ‘I don’t want to do that. I’m going to get older. I’m going to have wrinkles!'”

And thus far, Wright has been able to avoid going under the knife to enhance her beauty. Instead, Wright prefers the company of Spanx.

At a Los Angeles Confidential party earlier this week, Wright divulged her secret toward creating her svelte figure: ”I have Spanx on. Always! I have to wear them all the time!”

Spanx are not the only key to Wright looking as good as she does at nearly 50 years old, however. Wright also spends time working out, especially running. ”I ran on the beach this morning. Running gets everything done, doesn’t it? Covers it all.”

Wright also participates in a paleo diet, eliminating those carbs in order to maintain her lithe frame.

Recently, Wright’s body received an ultimate compliment when a fan paid $3,250 to spend a day with Wright on the set of House of Cards. The charity auction, which was held by the site charitybuzz.com, will use the funds to benefit the ACLU of southern California.

Season Three of House of Cards will begin sometime in early 2015, and, unfortunately, it will not be filmed at the UN Security Council chambers.
