  • Rene Angelil is battling cancer for the second time, and wife Celine Dion feeds him three times a day via a feeding tube. In an interview with Deborah Roberts that will air on Wednesday, Dion explains what like is like right now for her family.

“We are taking life one day at a time,” she said in her ABC News interview. “[But] we are choosing to live.”

Rene Angelil has throat cancer. Celine Dion has taken the past year off from her singing career in order to care for him, as well as for the couple’s three sons. She will return to her Las Vegas residency at Caesar’s Palace this summer.

Deborah Roberts asks Celine Dion what life has been like caring for Rene Angelil, her husband of 21 years, in Wednesday’s upcoming interview.

“Oh, come on, the fans, they know that I’m an open book. I sing. That’s the only thing I know,” Dion says.

“He can’t use his mouth. He can’t eat, so I feed him. He’s got a feeding tube. I have to feed him three times a day. I do this myself, and so I feed my husband and feed my kids,” she adds.

Celine Dion and Rene Angelil married back in 1994. The couple has three sons. Rene-Charles is 14, and twins Eddy and Nelson are four.

Angelil was first diagnosed with cancer in 1999. He had surgery in December of 2013 to remove a tumor from his throat.

The future sounds a bit uncertain for Rene Angelil, but something that’s clearly certain is Celine Dion’s love for her husband.

“We are taking life one day at a time,” Dion tells Deborah Roberts. “[But] we are choosing to live.”

Tune in to ABC News on Wednesday to see Deborah Roberts interview Celine Dion and talk more about Rene Angelil.
