  • Though wardrobe-famous Jennifer Lopez and the ever-flamboyant Steven Tyler were sharing a judge’s table with him, it was American Idol judge Randy Jackson that stirred up some attention with a sparkly pin he wore on the popular talent show this past Wednesday night. As the show went into its first commercial break of the evening, Jackson took to Twitter to see what the viewers were saying about the contestants. The performances were getting discussion, sure. But, it was Randy’s pin that was drawing the most attention.

What in the world is Randy Jackson wearing? A sparkly beaded pin of a angry girl? I haven’t laughed that hard in a long time. #idol 1 day ago via Twitter for iPhone ·  Reply ·  Retweet ·  Favorite · powered by @socialditto

Of course I am watching @AmericanIdol right now trying to figure out what is on Randy Jackson’s jacket. It looks like a crying baby pin. 1 day ago via Twitter for Android ·  Reply ·  Retweet ·  Favorite · powered by @socialditto

Was Randy’s pin supposed to be Whitney Houston? Or Betty Boop? Or Michael Jackson? Or what? #idol 1 day ago via web ·  Reply ·  Retweet ·  Favorite · powered by @socialditto

Jackson noticed that Tweets and sent a picture of the pin to one of the board on his Pinterest account.

Jackson even arranged a giveaway of the pin on Facebook.

Many of the talent shows airing now are trying to raise their involvement with social media. Whether Jackson intended his wardrobe choice to stir up some activity or not, who knows? But, he responded and rode it to a PR win.
