  • Rachael Leigh Cook and Daniel Gillies welcomed their first child, a sweet baby girl, into the world on Saturday.

The couple, who married on August 14, 2004, announced that they were expecting back in May. The “She’s all That” star had to hide her growing belly while she was in the process of filming the second season of “Perception”, but eventually had to announce the pregnancy. Gillies said, at the time, that he did not have a preference on the baby’s gender, but possibly confirmed that the baby would have an unusual name, like most children of celebrities. “A lot of people are asking whether I’d prefer a boy or a girl. In truth, it doesn’t matter to me — I just can’t wait to meet little Keanu Robocop,” he laughed.

Rumors began circulating on Friday that the baby was here. However, that was not the case and Gillies quickly set the facts straight, via Twitter.

Then on Saturday, he took to Twitter again, to announce the news everyone had been waiting for: “It’s a girl”.

Earlier this year, Cook sat down for an interview with long-time friend, Marla Sokoloff. When asked what she was most looking forward to about motherhood, Cook said all she wants is to get the baby here and to have a “healthy kid”.

“I have very short-term goals in this area! I will be very impressed with myself if I can just get this kid here into the outside world safely. I don’t feel qualified to pull this whole thing off, if I’m being honest. So it’s a cliché but I have to say it, just having a healthy kid is all I want.”
