  • The CBS affiliate in Los Angeles is reporting that authorities were called from an airplane while it was in the air due to two disruptive children. The Los Angeles Times reports that the children were 3 and 8 years old.

The Portland Police were called ahead of the SkyWest plane landing, and the children and their parents were escorted off of the plane. CBS quotes an Alaska Airlines (which operates SkyWest) spokesperson as saying:

“During the flight, the children became disruptive and wouldn’t stay in their seats and wouldn’t fasten their seat belts, which is against federal regulations.”

    and

“Following this, an Alaska Airlines supervisor meet with the family (of four), talked with them about the need to comply with Federal Air Regulations that the children must be in their seats and remain buckled when asked.”

After that the family was the escorted to and allowed to board their connecting flight to Seattle.

The family’s name has not been released, and neither have any details on the nature of the children’s tantrums. Also, no word on whether the children learned their lesson. Or their parents, for that matter, who evidently couldn’t manage to strap the kids in forcibly. What about you? Any stories of kids on airplanes, good or bad?
