  • Pippa Middleton, sister of Duchess Kate, wanted to be a tennis star when she was younger.

The 29-year old admits she had aspirations of being a world-class athlete as a child in her writings for Vanity Fair, as she’s been named a new contributing editor for the magazine. Her first task was writing a guide for Wimbledon, which takes place this summer.

“I first went to Wimbledon when I was eight years old and already a very keen tennis player,” she wrote. “During this first trip I acted on my childish tennis dreams and bought myself a postcard of the women’s championship trophy, on which I wrote, ‘I will win this one day,’ with my signature below.”

Middleton was apparently so keen on the game that she planned to get married in her tennis whites. And hide that famous backside?

Pippa is no stranger to writing guides; last year she released her first book, “Celebrate: A Year Of Festivities For Families And Friends”, and she also writes a column for the magazine of a British supermarket chain called “Pippa’s Friday Night Feasts”.

“We’re delighted to have Pippa as a contributor to Vanity Fair,” said the magazine’s editor, Graydon Carter. “She’s a keen observer of classic British pastimes. She is also an avid sportswoman, and we look forward to her take on traditional English pursuits, beginning with Wimbledon.”
