  • You wouldn’t think that an actor as successful as Pierce Brosnan would have many insecurities. However, he recently revealed that he does, and is very insecure about watching himself in the James Bond films.

Brosnan played the spy in Bond films such as GoldenEye (1995), Tomorrow Never Dies (1997), The World is Not Enough (1999) and Die Another Day (2002).

He admitted that he never fully understood the character, and said that he never felt he was as good as the other actors, Sean Connery and Roger Moore, who played the part. “I felt I was caught in a time warp between Roger and Sean,” said Brosnan.

“I have no desire to watch myself as James Bond, because it’s just never good enough — it’s a horrible feeling,” he told the UK’s The Telegraph.

“It was a very hard one to grasp the meaning of, for me,” Brosnan continued. “The violence was never real, the brute force of the man was never palpable. It was quite tame, and the characterization didn’t have a follow-through of reality, it was surface. But then that might have had to do with my own insecurities in playing him as well.”

While Brosnan may not feel that his acting in the Bond films was up to par, he does realize that those movies opened the doors to more films and career opportunities. “It’s the gift that keeps on giving, that allowed me to create my own production company and make my own movies,” Brosnan said.
