Path.To Aims To Be The “eHarmony For Jobs”

  • Path.to announced the launch of a new online job service for those in development and IT, which the company deems the “eHarmony of Jobs.” It takes into account users’ social graphs, personalities and skills/experience, when matching them with potential employers.

We had a brief exchange with founder and CEO Darren Bounds, who tells us about what sets Path.to apart from competitors, and why it’s the eHarmony for jobs.

“We are doing for hiring what eHarmony did for online dating,” says Bounds. “We get a much deeper understanding of an applicant’s personality and professional background, and combine it with our knowledge of a company’s culture and needs to match the right person for the right job.”

“The eHarmony comparison means that through a deeper understanding of an applicants personality, passion and professional background as well as more insight into a company’s culture, needs and what it takes to be successful, we can connect great companies with highly relevant, ‘compatible’ job seekers,” he tells WebProNews.

When asked what makes a user’s social graph ideal for job matching, Bounds says, “This is important for a number of reasons. It gives us valuable insight into a persons interests and passion. Beyond their professional experience and expertise, if we can connect a job seeker who also matches at a more personal level, they’re more likely to be happy in that position.”

“For example, if you’re a great engineer who’s also interested in photography, perhaps you’d be more interested in a company that’s related to that interest,” he adds.

“Additionally, their social graph provides us valuable insight and a better understanding of their expertise on specific, professionally related topics and skills,” says Bounds. “For example, using the software engineer community GitHub, Path.To takes into account what individual projects they are involved in/how they are involved, what languages and technologies they use in their contributions, what is the community response to their contributions, and more. It is important to note that these actions can only enhance a user’s Path.To score.”

So, what makes Path.to more effective for users in finding jobs, compared to other services currently on the market?

“Because of our new approach to job matching we’re able to target the right candidates with great opportunities,” Bounds tells us. “They don’t have to search, the positions come right to them and in a much more personalized, relevant way. This adds a lot of value to the job seeker, but also dramatically improves applicant quality on the employer side as we deliver applicants in a prioritized list, ordered by the Path.To Score.”
