  • After a six-year hiatus, Outkast will be reuniting to headline Coachella next year.

The duo–consisting of Andre 3000 and Big Boi–parted ways in 2007 to pursue solo projects, but the music they collaborated on is forever in our hearts, and fans are ecstatic that they’ll be teaming up again, even if it is just for a two-weekend music festival. The news has been confirmed by Sleepy Brown, who shared a photo on his Instagram account (though it’s since been taken down).

Although 2014 will mark the 20-year anniversary of Outkast’s hugely successful debut album Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik, there are no plans for a new album (or if there are, everyone is keeping quiet on the subject). Big Boi said in an interview earlier this year that there was tentative talk of a reunion, but gave no details.

“We’ve been kind of discussing some things,” he said. “Once we map it out, we’ll make an announcement. But we’ll see. It’s 20 years, man … I wanna see it too, I definitely wanna see it too. Mum’s the word right now, but we gon’ see.”

Andre 3000 was a little more definite when asked last February about a reunion, saying, “There’s been a lot of talk on the Internet about an Outkast album and I have to say that as of now, there are no plans for another Outkast album.”

Of course, plans change, and hopefully after the pair are onstage together for the first time in ten years, they’ll change their minds.
