  • Olsen twins Mary-Kate and Ashley have a second chance at making an appearance on Netflix’s Fuller House–if they’re interested–because the show has just been renewed for a second season.

The show–a reboot of the classic ’90s sitcom, for anyone who has been living under a rock for the past several months–features the girls from the original series all grown up and living together under the same roof that Danny, Joey, and Jesse lived under, with a similar backstory: DJ is a widow and is having a hard time doing the single mom thing, so sister Stephanie and bestie Kimmy decide to move in and help her out. While most of the original cast returned, the Olsen twins–who played little sis Michelle–declined to make an appearance, mostly because it’s been a while since they were on camera and, according to John Stamos, they didn’t feel comfortable with it.

“They seemed very into Fuller House; they just were afraid of acting. They hadn’t acted; they don’t consider themselves actresses,” Stamos said.

The show has gotten mixed reviews outside of hardcore fans of the original show, but even some of the critics agree that the new series holds quite a bit of nostalgia.

The Olsen twins probably won’t make an appearance on the second season, but it’s worth noting that the creators tried hard to get them to come back. They even thought about asking their sister, Elizabeth Olsen, if she would be interested, but ultimately decided it wasn’t the right move. Instead, DJ, Kimmy, and Stephanie reference the absence of Michelle by talking about her studying fashion in New York and even prank call her in one episode, yelling “You got it, dude!” into the phone.

“Doing the show without Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen was a giant bummer, but their participation was never a precondition for doing that show. I hoped that they would come back and do one episode, but I didn’t think that they were going to be regulars,” said creator Jeff Franklin.
