EA releases an “indie bundle”? That’s not how that works, EA. Stop attempting to ruin everything, you bunch of cynical bastards. 3 hours ago via Twitter for Android ·  Reply ·  Retweet ·  Favorite · powered by @socialditto

Indies are saving gaming. EA is methodically destroying it. 3 hours ago via Twitter for Android ·  Reply ·  Retweet ·  Favorite · powered by @socialditto

He is referring to the EA release “indie Bundle” on Steam, which includes the games Deathspank, Shank and Warp. Notch says EA has no right to label itself as an “indie” production company. A title that he thinks his own company, Mojang, no longer fits into.

Fwiw, I don’t even call Mojang inde any more. Vlambeer is indie. Polytron is indie. Stephen, Ed, Terry, Derek, Tommy and Chris are indie. 3 hours ago via Twitter for Android ·  Reply ·  Retweet ·  Favorite · powered by @socialditto

He goes on to make fun of the blogosphere, who jumped on the story almost as soon as he tweeted it. Adding that he wasn’t bashing the games themselves, just EA.

I got into trouble on the interwebs again! The games in the bundle are good, I’m not questioning them. I’m questioning EA. 2 hours ago via Twitter for Android ·  Reply ·  Retweet ·  Favorite · powered by @socialditto

Notch and EA have butted heads before, when a chief director at EA suggested he help Notch with his monetization strategies. Notch responded by saying “I’m sure EA is very successful at monetizing games, but the more we don’t do what they do, the happier I am.”

I have to agree with the man on this one. EA is notorious for breaking up their games into a bunch of DLC, charging astronomical prices to access all of the games features. They call it “monetization”, when what it really is, is ripping off the consumer.

To turn around and offer games as part of an “indie bundle” is just a slap in the face to real indie developers who want to set them selves apart from EA’s cash grab methods.

Notch and indie game developer, Ed Key, go on to make fun of reporters who have jumped all over him for comments he made just hours ago. Funny stuff.

Reporters are reffering to me as “boss”? I am not the boss of anyone! Founder and game developer only. http://t.co/3PqJCk7q 1 hour ago via Twitter for Android ·  Reply ·  Retweet ·  Favorite · powered by @socialditto
