  • Are you familiar with Stephen King’s horror story IT? It’s about a demonic entity that eats children and portrays itself in the form of a clown named Pennywise. Back in 1990, there was a TV mini-series adaptation of IT starring Tim Curry that scared the dickens out of us younglings. There’s no need to worry, because it’s not real.

    Actually, it might be.

At dark hours on Cedar Road of Northampton, England, lingers a man whose grinning face is enveloped in the palest of paints. He dons a colorful clown suit, petrifying residents who dare gaze, met with a grin and a wave, alone.

It all started on Friday the 13th (coincidence?), and has happened three nights in a row since then. The anonymous clown has been standing around at the street corners in Abington and Kingsley areas, staring at everyone who passes by. Occasionally, our red headed, big shooed friend carries a clown teddy bear.

Northampton Herald & Post reported that one woman claimed that a pair of clowns knocked on her door and asked to paint the window sills. They didn’t have any paint with them.

With 50.167  likes, the North Hampton clown runs his own Facebook page, on it, he poses a question: “Can you spot me around Northants?”

There were previous rumors spreading around the online social media world about how the clown carries a knife. “Too much hate not enough love. No, I don’t have a knife on me!, that’s just stupid rumours spread by stupid people. I’m also ‘not’ on twitter as it confuses the heck out of me.” The clown posted on his Facebook page. “However, I might go for a jog around that pond in Abington park later as I’m really unfit… See you around! Beep Beep!”

He’s already addressed the issue of the apparent fear that he has struck in the hearts of many Brits, “I don’t terrorise people I just want to be spotted.” There’s been a mix of reactions online, one Facebook user by the name of Jay Gould commented: “Poor clown just trying to liven up Northampton and people threatening to hurt him.”
