  • Nikki Reed was spotted leaving a gym in Los Angeles Saturday, just hours after the announcement of her separation from American Idol Season 10 musician Paul McDonald after more than two years of marriage.

The Twilight actress was seen wearing dark sunglasses and a black tank top, minus her wedding ring, as she left a yoga studio.

A rep for the Twilight actress announced their breakup earlier that day in a statement.

“After much consideration, Nikki Reed and Paul McDonald are ending their marriage. They have been living separately for the past six months due to work obligations,” the statement said.

“They will continue to share their love of music, and are still working on their debut album, I’m Not Falling, releasing in 2014. They remain best friends and look forward to their continued journey together,” the statement continued.

Reed, 25, and McDonald, 29, first met the Red Riding Hood premiere in March 2011. They later confirmed they were dating. The two wed in a private ceremony in front of family and friends in October 2011 in Malibu.

The couple recorded their first EP together, The Best Part, after they were married.

Reed opened up about married life in an interview with E! last year.

“Independence is also really important in our relationship,” Reed explained.

“[Paul] goes off and does his music and stuff like all day every day. We don’t just hang out together; he separates and goes to the music studio and he works and then I work too,” she said.

Neither Reed nor McDonald has made an individual statement about the split.
