Nikki Reed was spotted out and about shortly after word of her split from hubby American Idol musician Paul McDonald was announced. The Twilight actress was seen wearing a black tank top and dark glasses following a workout at an L.A. gym. She accessorized her look with a trendy bag and some fun tights–but noticeably absent was her wedding ring. The couple has been married for two years.

“After much consideration, Nikki Reed and Paul McDonald are ending their marriage. They have been living separately for the past six months due to work obligations,” a rep for Nikki announced. “They will continue to share their love of music, and are still working on their debut album, I’m Not Falling, releasing in 2014. They remain best friends and look forward to their continued journey together.”

How difficult do you suppose it might be to work on an album together while in the midst of a divorce? Something says that album might never see the light of day unless Reed and McDonald have a great deal of respect for and patience with one another. Most divorced couples will probably agree that working closely with their perspective ex–shortly after making the decision to divorce–wouldn’t have worked in a million years.

It’s sad how so many Hollywood couples let work get in the way of their marriage. They haven’t yet figured out that when the marriage comes first they will likely enjoy much happier lives in the long run. Money can afford them lots of things but not the peace and comfort that comes with a happy home life.

Nikki Reed and Paul McDonald met back in 2011 at the Red Riding Hood film premiere. They became engaged just three months later.
