  • Twitter just announced a couple of new features aimed at helping users “discover more” with the service. The features are a couple of tabs: one with your @username and the other with “Activity”.

“You can now see when someone favorites or retweets one of your Tweets. You can also learn which Tweets are most interesting and inspiring to the people you follow,” says Twitter in its announcement.

With the @username tab, you can see things that are happening on Twitter that are related to you. This means when people favorite your tweets, retweets of your tweets, tweets directed at you, and new followers.

The Activity tab shows favorites, retweets and follows from people you follow on Twitter in a single place. “It’s easier than ever to explore Twitter, connect with people, and discover what’s happening around the world,” Twitter says.

Twitter is really taking care of business this week. First they forced the new Twitter design on all users of Twitter.com, then they made the recently announced photo upload feature live.

Now, they’ve launched these new tabs.

Twitter has in fact been quite active in making its service more appealing to more users since Jack Dorsey came back, which is probably a good sign of things to come for the company, particularly as it faces new competition from Google, along with some already pretty stiff, existing competition from Facebook.

It was also announced a couple days ago that Twitter has acquired list-making service Bagcheck, along with its lead engineer.
