  • Oh, it’s not like you were really going to stop eating sweets forever.

Here in time to bust your diets, the Girl Scouts organization has just announced that this year’s cookie season will include three new varieties – two of which or gluten-free.

The first new cookie is called Toffee-tastic and, as advertised, will feature “crunchy golden toffee bits” inside “Indulgently rich, buttery cookies”.

The next new cookie is the Trios, a peanut butter oatmeal cookie with chocolate chips. These are the two gluten-free options.

The final new offering is the Rah-Rah Raisins – “made with whole grain oats, these new hearty oatmeal cookies are packed with plump raisins and Greek yogurt-flavored chunk”.

These new cookies will join, not replace, classic favorites like Thin Mints, Samoas, and Shortbread. The new cookies will debut on February 27, in correlation with National Girl Scout Cookie Weekend.

“The Girl Scout Cookie Program is the largest, most successful girl-led business in the world, and its power to teach girls business and financial skills that will serve them throughout their lives is unrivaled,” said Anna Maria Chávez, CEO of Girl Scouts of the USA. “Every year, nearly 1.5 million Girl Scouts sell about 200 million boxes of cookies—close to $800 million worth; and every year, our young cookie entrepreneurs reinvest that money into troop activities and projects that make their communities and our world a better place. There is no other program that allows girls to gain such valuable experience and understanding of how they can transform their world, all while having fun and engaging in the excitement of the cookie season.”

And there’s no other program that makes people feel like it’s ok to eat an entire box of cookies in one sitting. God bless America.
