  • Add another film to Netflix’s impressive list of exclusives.

The streaming company has picked up the rights to the new Ricky Gervais satirical comedy Special Correspondents. According to Variety, the movie will star Eric Bana as “a struggling New York-based radio journalist who fakes front line war reports from the comfort of his hideout above a Spanish restaurant in the heart of Manhattan.”

The film is expected to debut in 2016.

Special Correspondents is classic Ricky Gervais; smart social satire with heart,” says Netflix content head Ted Sarandos. “It’s the kind of great grown-up comedy that studios rarely make anymore, one that’s perfect for Netflix members around the world.”

“Having shaken up the TV industry, Netflix is about to do the same to Hollywood. It’s great to be part of the changing future. Ted Sarandos is the new Godfather of entertainment and he made me an offer I couldn’t refuse,” says Gervais.

Netflix and Gervais already have a relationship, as the comedian’s well-received show Derek is a Netflix exclusive.

In recent days, Netflix has renewed its original dramas House of Cards and Bloodline, picked up a new sketch comedy show from Bob Odenkirk and David Cross, and been rumored to be close to snagging a Full House revival.
