  • Nail polish can be yummy to the tummy! Kid Licks has developed organic edible nail polish targeted toward kids.

Kid Licks tells us why they created edible nail polish on their about page:

With three young kids, we’ve seen kids try to eat just about every gross thing known to man. We’ve made peace with most of it – food off the floor, sand at the beach, hair balls, some grosser stuff we don’t like to relive. But we at least try to make sure that the stuff we put on our kids’ hands is safe.

Since we weren’t able to find a food based nail polish anywhere on the market, we decided to make one the way we would want it to be made, with a full list of ingredients and nothing in it that doesn’t belong in our kids’ bellies, because that’s where it could very well end up.

As it turns out, it’s not so easy to make a polish this way. We’re not food scientist, but we have some good friends who are, and they’ve helped us craft great edible polishes from the simplest of ingredients.

Recently they created a sour carrot orange flavor which they think the kids will love.

    They say:

If you grow your own, you know that there’s nothing like pulling on a leafy stalk and watching the rich soil fall away to reveal a gorgeous, organic orange carrot. So sweet and delicious, we love them in our baking, as fresh juice or au naturel. Their vibrant color and delectable taste are why we decided to make carrots one of the stars of our organic, edible nail polish (but with a fun sour candy twist!).

If you’re anything like our family and you can’t get enough carrot, we can’t wait for you to try our Sour Orange Carrot nail polish.

According to Kid Licks, “Ordinary nail polish is full of chemicals you wouldn’t want your kids to ingest, like toluene, formaldehyde and DBP, the “toxic trio.” Even water based polishes and so called “kids’ polishes” are made mostly from acrylic polymers and synthetic pigments. Kid Licks is made from food and is organic and edible. The colors come from fruits and vegetables, so you never have to worry about your kids getting it in their mouths.”
