Lewinsky began talking about the scandal for the first time in May and started to open up on Twitter and in many interviews.

She recently told People that her reaction to the scandal now is much different from how it was at the time and that she still has a hard time looking back on the public’s reaction to the news of the affair.

“Overnight, I went from being a completely private figure, to a publicly humiliated one. I was patient zero – the first person to have their reputation completely destroyed worldwide via the Internet,” she said.

She went on to say that the media portrayed her as someone completely different than who she was and is and that she never could understand why they tried to make her into such a monster. She admitted that at one point she lost track of who she was herself.

“During this period, I gradually came to realize that there were two Monica Lewinskys … There was me, and there was public Monica Lewinsky. A somewhat curious character, constructed by political factions and the media. Constructed with a little fact, and a lot of fiction. My friends didn’t know that Monica. My family didn’t know that Monica. And this Monica, the real Monica standing here today, didn’t know her either,” she said.

Lewinsky also said that she regrets the affair but feels like her age played a big part in the scandal.

“I fell in love with my boss. In a 22-year-old sort of way, it happens. But my boss was the president of the United States. That probably happens less often.”

Do you think Monica Lewinsky will ever be able to forget about the Clinton scandal?
