  • A baseball fan died at a local hospital after going into cardiac arrest in Toronto at a Blue Jays/White Sox game. He has yet to be identified publicly, but his death shocked and saddened those in attendance.

“I saw some medics jump out around the dugout and run over,” White Sox third-baseman Kevin Youkilis said. “Then I saw a doctor or whoever was going, just pushing on the chest over and over and over. I thought maybe they were reviving him and then the next thing you know, they kept going and going. I was like `God, man. We’ve got to stop this thing.”‘

The game was halted for about five minutes as the man was given first aid; he was taken away through the left gate by a cart which rode onto the field.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of the person who was taken out of here tonight,” Blue Jays manager John Farrell said.

Fans and players alike said prayers for the man; some were clearly shaken by the incident. Sadly, this isn’t the first time a fan has been given CPR at a Blue Jays game. Hopefully it will be the last.
