  • Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton were married for four years, but they’ve been part of the country music family longer than that, and for that reason things are going to get a bit uncomfortable at this year’s Country Music Awards.

Shelton sat down with Seth Meyers this week and talked a bit about the awards, which will air on November 4, saying he knows things are going to get “awkward” when it’s time for host Brad Paisley to do his monologue.

“This year’s gonna be awkward at the CMAs, speaking of jokes. Because we are, it’s such a family. Everybody there is friends. There’s gotta be one about me and Miranda. Brad Paisley is not doing his job if he doesn’t look down there and go ‘Ha ha!’ You have to address the elephant in the room. We’ve had the conversations like, ‘Okay, dude. I’ll sit there and let you kick me in the face a few times.’ I know it’s coming,” Shelton said.

Lambert and Shelton have both seemingly moved on since their split, with Shelton losing weight and focusing on his job at The Voice, and Miranda adopting a kitten, working on her music, and showing up for a surprise performance in North Carolina last week. The former couple have battled rumors along the way, such as the gossip that Miranda cheated on Blake with country singer Chris Young. Young took to Twitter to clear up the story, saying they were both friends of his.

Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton released an announcement when they decided to end things, saying, “This is not the future we envisioned. And it is with heavy hearts that we move forward separately. We are real people, with real lives, with real families, friends and colleagues. Therefore, we kindly ask for privacy and compassion concerning this very personal matter.”
