  • Miranda Kerr appears nude on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar Australia’s January/February issue, but many fans Down Under won’t even get a quick peek.

Women’s Wear Daily reports that Cole’s, which is one of Australia’s two largest grocery store chains, removed what they perceived as “the offending cover” from they 776 stores’ shelves. They did so after customers voiced their displeasure over Miranda Kerr’s nude display.

“In response to feedback from our customers, many of whom shop with their children, we removed the magazine from sale earlier this week,” a Cole’s spokesman said in a statement.

Miranda Kerr wasn’t technically completely nude. She was wearing a pair of Christian Louboutin pumps as well as a Swarovski necklace and earrings.

    Do they count?

Kerr’s arms and legs are strategically placed on the magazine cover to avoid any private parts showing, but the pose is definitely a suggestive one nonetheless.

Although it was only 3,000 out of 54,000 copies that were removed from supermarket shelves, Harper’s Bazaar editor Kellie Hush was disappointed that Cole’s did so.

“Obviously I don’t want anything damaging to the brand and don’t think this is,” she told WWD. “It’s disappointing, but I’m very proud of it. Steven Chee is an amazing photographer, my team are proud of it, Miranda is proud of it. It’s not going to stop me from pushing boundaries again, that’s for sure.”

Do you expect Miranda Kerr’s cover shot would have caused grocery stores in the U.S. to take similar action?
