  • NBC this week announced that Academy Award nominee Minnie Driver will be part of the network’s upcoming Peter Pan Live! special. The actress will narrate the program as an adult version of Wendy Darling.

“We’re thrilled to have Minnie as part of this ‘Peter Pan’ adventure,” said Robert Greenblatt, chairman of NBC Entertainment. “She appears in the final emotional scene when Peter returns to the Darling home years later only to realize Wendy is now grown up and has a daughter of her own, but you’ll also hear her voice throughout the movie since adult Wendy is also our narrator. She’s a classy addition to our wonderful cast.”

Peter Pan Live! is a live-action production of the Peter Pan broadway musical. It stars Christopher Walken as Captain Hook and Girls star Allison Williams as Peter Pan. The production will air live on NBC at 8 pm EST on December 4.

The production is a follow-up to the successful The Sound of Music Live!, which aired last December on NBC.

During the week before Peter Pan Live! airs NBC will broadcast a behind-the-scenes look at the production called The Making of Peter Pan Live!. The show will follow the production from beginning to end including casting, costume design, stunt coordination, and dress rehearsals. The hour-long show will air at 8 pm EST on November 26.

Driver confirmed her role in Peter Pan Live! via Twitter and stated that she loves Peter Pan:

Driver is best-known for her roles in movies such as Grosse Point Blank and Good Will Hunting. More recently the actress was nominated for a 2014 Primetime Emmy award for her role in the Lifetime movie Return to Zero. She currently stars in the NBC TV series About a Boy.
