  • Sometimes staying busy with clients, e-mails, meetings, paperwork, and other daily activities can leave you isolated and out of touch with what’s going on in the world around you. Do you ever overhear conversations with younger people and wonder, “what the hell are they talking about?”. The more involved I become with my career, the less I know about what’s going on with the people around me. I don’t know what the latest happenings are, and I don’t know what’s trendy.

For many, this is just part of growing up, but for others, they can be left feeling isolated and uninspired. For Andy Russell, Founder of Trigger Media Group, feeling inspired and culturally relevant is of the utmost importance and he’s done something about it. Inspired by the Daily Candy, an e-mail notification service for your women, Russell has raised $22 million to launch his new project, Inside Hook. ‘Hook’ will feature inspirational and highly-relevant information about what’s trendy and what’s happening outside the realm of business.

Apparently, Daily Candy founder Dany Levy, is a childhood friend of Russell’s and is the true inspiration for the decision to form the new media group. Daily Candy shares information about where to eat and where to shop in an active city and Russell wondered why there wasn’t something like this for busy professional men. Trigger Media Group has drawn a lot of attention and prominent investors include Guggenheim Partners, Jason Hirschhorn, Condé Nast and Ali Pincus.

We will have to wait and see what these e-mail notifications look like and what types of information the ‘Hook’ will actually provide, but it sounds like something successful men could really use. Staying culturally informed while you’re busy with work projects is a challenge , but it could enhance the relationship you share with the people around you, like your children and spouse. It could even help with forming new relationships outside of work.
