Melissa McCarthy took the world by storm with her infectious brand of comedy. Now the actress will be venturing into the world of fashion design when she announced that she will be launching a new clothing line next year. While the line is still unnamed, McCarthy said that it will cater to all sizes, something that McCarthy thinks is lacking in fashion. “[I’ve been] every size on the planet. I have experience dressing me as a 6, a 12 and more,” McCarthy told Women’s Wear Daily. “And when you go above a size 12, you don’t lose your love of fashion.”
And McCarthy has the credentials to actually pull this off. Before becoming a comedienne, McCarthy moved to New York from Illinois to attend the Fashion Institute of Technology. McCarthy admits that fashion has been something that she’s always been interested in ever since she was a child. “It's something I've done since grade school. I'd lay on the floor, look through Vogue and cut out patterns. It was everything I ever wanted to do,” the Emmy winner said.

Melissa adds, “I loved the playfulness of fashion. I think maybe that’s why I became an actress. You put on one outfit and feel one way, and another one will make you feel another way. Clothes are a wonderful tool.”
McCarthy’s designs will be launching in time for the fall 2015 season. The initial designs will focus mainly on sportswear for all sizes, but McCarthy plans on branching out on more designs and products in the future. The Bridesmaids star teamed up with American Rag for this endeavor. “I’d been looking for two, three, maybe four years for manufacturers to help us do this line,” she says of the collaboration. “But after we met with like American Rag Sunrise we felt they were committed to changing the plus-size game.”
