  • Max Bullough, a senior linebacker for Michigan State, has been suspended for the rest of the season, after violating team rules. The suspension will make Bullough ineligible to play in this year’s Rose Bowl, disappointing not only his team members, but his fans as well.

“Max Bullough has been suspended for the remainder of the season for a violation of team rules,” coach Dantonio said in a statement early on Thursday. ”It is extremely disappointing for all parties involved,” Dantonio continued. Dantonio did not reveal what rules Bullough had broken, and said their would be “no further comments” on the situation.

The number 4 Spartans will go up against the number 5 Stanford in the Rose Bowl on January 1, 2014 in Pasadena, California. This will mark Michigan State’s seventh straight bowl game and their first appearance in the Rose Bowl in 26 seasons. Bullough had 76 tackles and 9.5 tackles for loss this season. His achievements earned him third-team All-America honors and first-team All-Big Ten honors.

Bullough followed in his family member’s footsteps when he became a member of the Michigan State football team. Not only was his father Shane a Spartan in the 1980s, his grandfather Hank and his two uncles also played for Michigan State, and now his younger brother is a redshirt freshman.

Despite his suspension, Dantonio said that Max will always be considered a Spartan. “Max will forever remain a Spartan and valued member in this team’s achievements,” Dantonio said in the statement.
