  • Liza Minnelli may be over four decades removed from her Oscar-winning portrayal of Sally Bowles in Caberet, but her name is coming up in headlines this week in connection with it after a disorderly young actor was escorted out of the theater in handcuffs.

Shia LaBeouf, who has had his fair share of headlines recently, was kicked out of the Broadway performance–which stars Michelle Williams and Alan Cumming–on Thursday after he reportedly disrupted the show and its actors. According to a source at Us Weekly, LaBeouf was “interacting with strangers during the show and slapping peoples’ backsides and harassing audience members, harassing actors on the stage, and chain smoking inside the theater.” As a cheeky nod to Minnelli, her rep, Scott Gorenstein, sent LaBeouf a copy of the movie on DVD.

“I figured he may want to find out how it ends,” Gorenstein said.

LaBeouf has faced a lot of criticism in recent months following a controversial role in the film Nymphomaniac, a plagiarism scandal which boiled over after he reportedly plagiarized his apology, an odd appearance on the red carpet in which he wore a paper bag over his head that said, “I am not famous anymore”, and at least two separate bar fights that were caught on film. It’s not clear what set off the incident at the theater, but he was caught on camera again earlier this month getting rowdy outside a strip club in NYC.

LaBeouf was arraigned on Friday but will return to court on July 24 on charges of disorderly conduct, criminal trespassing and harassment.
