  • Lena Dunahm has proved that she is a great writer already, and now she plans to take her talents to a new type of media, a classic comic strip. She will write a four-part story for Archie Comics, a classic that the actress has always loved.

    The actress has appeared in a handful of films, including the indie film Tiny Furniture, which she also wrote and directed; However, she is known to most people for her role in the hit HBO show Girls. Other notable films in her career include The Innkeepers and This is 40.

    Archie Comics recently announced that Lena Dunahm would be writing a four-part series for the comic. It is set to be published in 2015, and with the growing popularity that Dunham continues to receive, the deal may even work to bring in new readers to the comic.

    The Girls actress is a longtime fans of the comics, and is excited to write a story of her own. She recently said “I was an avid Archie collector as a child. It has so much cultural significance but also so much personal significance, and to get to play with these beloved characters is a wild creative opportunity.”

    Not only is it a big deal for Lena Dunham as a writer, but Archie Comics is excited to have her on board to write for the comic strip. Archie Comics Co-CEO Jon Goldwater showed his excitement to bring in the the young actress when saying “To have someone like that say, ‘Not only am I a fan, I’d love to write something,’ it just epitomizes all the hard work we’ve put in for the last five years.”

    Her show Girls received Golden Globe nominations for both of its first seasons, and won the award in 2012. The show focuses on Dunahm’s Hannah and her three friends Marnie, Jessa, and Shoshana, four friends trying to make it in New York City after graduating from college. The show is currently in its third season, and also stars Adam Driver, who was recently chosen as the villain in the upcoming Star Wars Episode VII film.

    Fans of Lena Dunham can also catch her as the host of Saturday Night Live this Saturday on March 8th. She will be joined by The National as the musical guest.

    Most people may be unaware, but she will be actually be joining a long list of celebrities taht have made an atemetpt at writing for comics before, a list that the includes big stars such as Samuel L. Jackson, William Shatner, Kevin Smith, and Mark Hamilll.
