  • In what is being touted as one of the biggest upsets in NCAA history, Lehigh swept their game against Duke–who had been second-seeded–last week only to lose it all on Sunday to Xavier.

The team looked good in the first half, but gave up their lead to the Musketeers after center Kenny Frease scored five straight points in the second half. The Musketeers went on to win 70-58 despite playing without their third-leading scorer, Dezmine Wells, who injured his right ankle in the first half and was out for the rest of the game.

Lehigh managed to take the loss gracefully, despite being so close to victory only to feel it slip through their fingers.

“It has been really exciting ups and downs, going from beating Duke and barely getting any sleep and then being obviously very disappointed in the way we performed,” junior forward Gabe Knutson said. “Having a chance at the Sweet 16, being that close, that’s a lot of motivation to work that much harder to get there [next year].”

#Lehigh salutes its cheering section after its loss to Xavier. Thanks for a great year! http://t.co/fJ2DLIT1(image) 16 hours ago via Twitpic ·  Reply ·  Retweet ·  Favorite · powered by @socialditto
