  • LeAnn Rimes’ jaw popped out of place during a concert in Oklahoma Saturday, and the singer took to Twitter shortly after the concert to explain to fans why she was forced to skip the encore.

The 31-year-old country singer gave it her all during the concert, but refrained from performing an encore because of her hurt jaw. Rimes also told fans via Twitter that the cause of her condition is something she has been dealing with since she was a teenager.

Rimes apologized to fans in a tweet for ending her concert somewhat abruptly, blaming it on TMJ.

TMJ, short for temporomandibular joint dysfunction, is used to describe pain and restricted movement of the jaw and its surrounding muscles. Rimes explained to fans on Twitter that she has had it since she was 16 years old.

The Spitfire songstress underwent several dental procedures for the condition during the summer of 2012 and tweeted details about the procedure. “Waiting on the endodontist to meet me and do a nighttime root canal,” she wrote in July.

“This is one of the craziest things I’ve ever been through. Trying to keep my mind off the pain & what’s about to happen by saying hi to you guys. Life does not work on the right schedule sometimes. This is such bad timing! K, wish me luck. Much love!” Rimes wrote.

The procedure failed to cure her pain, and Rimes filed a lawsuit in February 2013, claiming the dentist’s work had set her back. She indicated that she suffered from “severe tooth pain, gum inflammation, and chronic gum bleeding,” and that her “ability to perform as an artist has been and will continued to be significantly compromised until all re-treatment is complete.”

Rimes told fans she had a great time in Oklahoma despite her condition.
