Laurie Metcalf Takes Broadway Stage Again

  • Actress Laurie Metcalf, perhaps best known for her portrayal of Jackie on the hit ’90s sitcom “Roseanne”, will be hitting the bright lights of Broadway once again in a production of “The Other Place”. She has won awards for her previous work in earlier productions of the show.

Metcalf’s career has largely been based on comedy, something she’s got talent for in droves. Besides stealing many scenes on “Roseanne”, she’s also one of my favorite parts of “Uncle Buck” (of which there are many), as the horny neighbor Marcie Dahlgren-Frost (she gets compliments on the hyphen). But few people know about her dramatic skills, which she’s honed to perfection over the years in various stage plays like “Long Day’s Journey Into Night”, “Brighton Beach Memoirs”, and “November”.

“The Other Place” will open at the Samual J. Friedman center on January 10, 2013.
