  • Though it has been hard to keep up with, the fourth and last Inside Assassin’s Creed episode has finally been released. Where previous episodes have focused on the characters or weapons in the game, today’s addition shows the care that Assassin’s Creed III‘s developers have taken to create a historically accurate setting.

The most impressive feat mentioned in the video is that the developers have recreated 18th century versions of Boston, New York, and the American countryside. “We had to go back and get our historian to find us accurat maps from the era of what Boston and New York looked like,” said Steven Masters, lead game designer for Assassin’s Creed III. “These are actual replicas of the cities.”

In addition to the historical accuracy, the cities have been designed for the same free-running featured in previous Assassin’s Creed games. And while “the frontier,” as developers call it, isn’t as populated, there are still plenty of activities to participate in out in the wilderness. Players will be able to hunt and free-run across the boughs of trees.
