  • A Lamborghini sports car crashed and burned near the George Washington Bridge in New Jersey early Monday. Police responded to the scene of the crash at around 2 a.m. and found the car burning. They were able to determine that it had been headed out of New York, but the driver was nowhere to be found.

A truck driver who was also on the bridge when the car crashed allegedly occurred, described the accident saying,

“By the time I got to the other side, I was running over car parts in the roadway and I saw the wreck,” he said.

He said that, as he drove by, he saw the airbag had been deployed and a woman trying to open the driver’s door to get the driver out.

“It was a pretty nice car,” he continued. “It looked like a new one.”. The witness said that the car was not on fire when he drove past it and said that it appeared to have been pulled over onto the shoulder of the road.

Police were able to locate Deankarte E. Ditchfield-Agboh, a 33-year-old Palisades Park resident, who is the owner and driver of the car. He has been charged with abandoning a vehicle and leaving the scene of an accident.

Police say that the Lamborghini was a a 2008 dark gray Murcielago. When the vehicle was new it would have sold for as much as $300,000. Used vehicles of the same year sell for between $200,000 to $220,000.

The car was released back to Ditchfield-Agboh. Details about the accident are still blurry as the police were able to determine that the car was involved in an accident but could not tell when or where. They have also not said if the vehicle had caught on fire before the driver abandoned it or if it caught fire after he left it on the shoulder.
