  • Fox’s reprise of its original innovative series, 24, announced today that it will welcome back to the cast Kim Raver and William Devane. Devane—as Secretary of Defense James Heller—and Raver—as his daughter, Audrey Raines—left the original series rather tragically, with Raver catatonic.

Wondering if Raver will spend the next 24 hrs comatose in 24: Live Another Day? The premise, revealed yesterday, for the follow-on is to pick up in London, several years from where the finale leaves off.

Raver is additionally known for roles in Third Watch, The Nine, Lipstick Jungle and feature roles on Revolution and Grey’s Anatomy. Devane’s career highs dating back to the 1960’s include roles in Knots Landing and feature films The Dark Knight Rises, Space Cowboys and Marathon Man.

Essential to the series is the return of Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland), love interest for Raver’s character. Also returning with the series in Spring 2014 will be Mary Lynn Rajskub as Chloe O’Brian.

The original series, 24, started November 2001 and aired its last episode in May 2010 after eight seasons—it was one of the shows that suffered a longer than typical gap due to the writers strike of 2007-2008.

Raver shared her jubilation on Twitter, seeming to primarily enjoy no longer having to keep the secret.

The original series accumulated 73 Emmy nominations with a 2006 win for Outstanding Drama Series. Star, Sutherland, has one win in the series for Outstanding Lead Actor-Drama Series, with seven nominations. Howard Gordon, Brian Grazer and Sutherland have signed on as executive producers for Live Another Day. The timeline of the show has been groundbreaking, weaving plots and subplots together over the 12-episode season representing 24 hours, one complete day.
