Kim Kardashian first garnered media attention in February 2007 when a sex tape (rumored to be brokered by her mother) leaked of her and rapper Ray J. Like Paris Hilton 2.0, what immediately followed eight months later was a commissioned opportunity for Kardashian and her family to star in a reality television show titled Keeping Up with the Kardashians.

Last week, after clearing the air with Jimmy Kimmel, Kardashian’s boyfriend Kanye West, an international rap superstar who’s been called a “jackass” by President Obama, said that he believed Kim deserved to be immortalized on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

“I want to shout out to the stars on the Walk of Fame because they said something about [how] they’re not going to put my girl on the Walk of Fame because she’s a reality star,” West told Kimmel. “People are so so dated and not modern. There’s no way Kim Kardashian shouldn’t have a star on the Walk of Fame.”

But Ana Martinez, spokesperson for the Walk of Fame disagrees, stating Kardashian is ineligible.

“We don’t have reality stars on the Walk of Fame,” Martinez told Yahoo’s omg!. “We don’t have a category for it. We’re happy to consider reality stars once they get nominated for, or win, an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar. We’ll consider them when they’re legitimate actors or singers.”

Martinez also mentioned how Kardashian has never been nominated for the honor, and despite Kanye’s protest, it’s not happening for someone of her caliber.

“We honor people who’ve acted in or directed or produced an award-winning show or film. And it’s the same with music, people who maybe have gold records,” Martinez told the New York Daily News.

“I understand that Kanye loves his girlfriend, but that’s not the way to go about getting a star – on national TV without checking into whether or not she qualifies, which she does not,” Martinez added.

As soon as the media caught wind of Martinez’s quotes, a spokesperson for the Chamber told The Hollywood Reporter that, “Part of criteria in being honored is receiving awards such as Emmys, SAG Awards, Oscars… in the category of television, live-stage performance or motion pictures. And they have to have a career in the business of acting for five years or more.”
