  • A Killeen police shooting in Texas Friday has left two police officers injured, one of them in critical condition.

A 49-year-old man and a 50-year-old woman were arrested after the incident for allegedly shooting the officers during the execution of a search warrant.

Marvin Louis Guy, 49, of Killeen, was charged with three counts of attempted capital murder and was being held in the Bell County Jail Saturday in lieu of bonds totaling $3 million.

According to Killeen police spokeswoman Carroll Smith, a SWAT team and officers from the Bell County Organized Crime Task Force surrounded an apartment on the 1100 block of Circle M Drive in Killeen while authorities served a search warrant, when someone inside the residence opened fire.

Four officers were hit by bullets, but two were hit on their bullet proof vests and avoided injury. The other two were seriously injured and transported to Scott & White Hospital in Temple, with one in critical condition.

The two injured officers’ names have not yet been made public, but one of the two is reportedly an 18-year veteran and was initially listed in serious condition until his condition deteriorated and the hospital changed his status to critical. The other is a nine-year veteran and is listed in good condition.

“The tragic events that unfolded have left the members of the Killeen Police Department and their families seeking answers to a senseless, destructive act,” said Police Chief Dennis Baldwin.

“The families of the injured officers are aware of the outpouring of love, prayers, and support from the Central Texas Community. On behalf of the Killeen Police Department and the families of the injured officers, I would like to express our appreciation.”

A local resident identifying herself as M. Simpson told reporters, “I haven’t had conversations with them, but I’ve talked to them just saying ‘hey.’ My husband had a birthday party and everybody came, and he was one of them. He seemed weird, but I didn’t think he was that stirred to do all that.”
