Kendall Marshall Recovering From Surgery

  • As reported earlier today, North Carolina’s Kendall Marshall fractured a bone in his wrist during a game against Creighton on Sunday and was unable to finish the game despite a good try. The injury came after a brutal foul in the second half and required the point guard to have a screw put in to his wrist this morning. Reports are that he is recovering well after the procedure in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

Fans have been speculating as to whether or not he will be able to play in Friday’s game, since the fracture didn’t stop his team from going on to win the match this past weekend.

Because the injury was to Marshall’s right wrist and he is a left-handed player, officials aren’t ruling him out as a valuable player just yet. The early word is that with sufficient recoup time and a cast, he should be able to join his teammates on the court. But no one wants to call it just yet.

Marshall’s father, Dennis, told CBS news that when Kendall plays again would be based on “what would be best for Kendall in the long term” and that he just didn’t know whether his son would be ready to play against Ohio on Friday.

For now, Marshall seems to be in good spirits, even joking on Twitter about his injury:
