Kelly Ripa has been the long-time co-host of the incredibly popular Live! With Kelly and Michael for what seems like forever.
As the bubbly blonde conversationalist, Kelly Ripa has carried the show with her antics and her easy manner since she appeared in 2001.
The conversational chemistry between Kelly Ripa and her current co-host, Michael Strahan, is amazing and they make great TV together!
However, before there was Michael, there was Regis.
For over a decade, it was Live! with Regis and Kelly, pittting Kelly Ripa against Regis Philbin in delightful banter about celebrities, current events, and their individual lives, and they were great.
It seemed like Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa, who he lovingly called “Pipa” sometimes, were fast friends, on screen and off.
However, after an interview that Regis Philbin did recently with Hoda Kotb, it seems that friendship didn’t go very far, even after having worked together for so long.
Hoda Kotb was conducting a conversation about some of Philbin’s former co-workers when she asked Regis about Kelly Ripa, saying, “What about Kelly? How often do you see her or speak to her?”
Surprisingly Regis replied, “I haven’t seen her, I don’t see her.”
In fact, he hasn’t seen her since they did their last show in 2011. He tried to explain why he doesn’t speak to Kelly Ripa with geography.
He said, “She lived downtown, and now I hear she’s on the East Side and, uh, you know.”
That seems sad, but Philbin went on to explain that even when he is right there in Kelly Ripa’s studio, they just don’t cross paths.
He said, “I was over there yesterday [at ABC] as a matter of fact, to do something for them. No, I didn’t see [her].”
But, it seems to be a totally different story with Philbin’s co-host before Kelly Ripa, Kathy Lee Gifford.
Of her, he said, “She lives in Greenwich and I’m a weekend guy there, so I do see a lot of her.”
