  • Katie Holmes received rave reviews for her portrayal of Jackie Kennedy Onassis in a 2011 mini-series about the family, and now she’s set to step back into the fashionable shoes of the former first lady for a follow up, which will air in 2016.

The actress has been busy onstage of late and reportedly optioned the rights to the novel All We Had, which she’ll produce for the big screen. Since the demise of her clothing line, Holmes & Yang, she’s been showing a renewed interest in acting and directing and has moved from New York to L.A. in order to focus on that aspect of her career, although she recently said that New York is a special place to her.

“New York has been very good to both of us. I like feeling a part of something big. I love the community in New York. I love New Yorkers. I ran into someone on the street the other day that I went to high school with – I love the moments of spontaneity every day,” she said.

“The Kennedys: After Camelot” will begin production next year for ReelzChannel and will be four hours long. Holmes is expected to produce and direct one episode; the other three will be directed by John Cassar, who directed the first mini-series.

Holmes announced earlier this year that she wouldn’t be collaborating with her fashion design partner, Jeanne Yang, any further despite making it to New York Fashion Week in 2012. A source said that the duo weren’t able to agree on a vision for the company.

“They have different approaches to absolutely everything: how to run the company, how to promote it and how to handle the press. It is much better that they go their separate ways now,” the source said. “The conflict isn’t about any one thing, it’s sort of about everything.”
