  • Katherine Webb is a tall, gorgeous model, but that doesn’t mean she’s exempt from the cruel world of internet commenters.

The former beauty queen opened up in an interview with Mario Lopez recently after a photo she posted of herself in a bikini attracted several bullies and left her concerned about the way we treat women who are in the public eye. After being told she was “anorexic and ugly” and that she needed to “eat a hamburger, have a donut”, Katherine said she was reminded of being younger and dealing with self esteem issues.

“This is a topic that is very sensitive to me, because I had self-esteem issues growing up. I was always the tall, awkward, lanky girl, and so it’s very important to me that people not bully each other about their appearance or their bodies. I will never support people bullying other people about their bodies… women that are bullied because of their weight, whether they are 150 to 200 pounds or 110 to 112, it doesn’t matter,” Webb said.

Webb says she has a thyroid issue that causes her weight to fluctuate, but that there is no excuse for the way she was treated.

“Can you imagine if someone said those things to you?” she asked during the interview.

Webb also had a more direct message to the people who left such cruel comments on Instagram:

“To all the middle-aged women who like to leave mean comments on my page about my body, you can gladly skip my page and go somewhere else. I am tall, I eat just fine and also suffer from thyroid problems so don’t make fun of me or my body when you probably have problems of your own.”
