  • If the fashionable Duchess of Cambridge gets criticism from her husband for her wardrobe choices, is there really any hope for the rest of us?

Kate Middleton is known as much for her chic sense of style as she is for marrying Prince William, and she’s been putting her talents to good use on her recent royal tour of Australia and New Zealand.

Accompanied by her husband and eight-month-old son George, the duchess has been making fashion tongues wag with some of her choices, including her little black dress that donned fern embroidery across the shoulder and her Diane von Furstenberg wrap dress. Not all of her frocks have been appealing to her hubby, however.

Most recently, William told Kate she looked like a banana when she wore the bright yellow Roksanda Ilincic Ryedale dress from the Spring/Summer 2014 collection, when the family arrived in Sydney. It’s likely that Middleton chose the number to represent the sunny Sydney environment.

The Prince also had something to say about what his wife was wearing earlier on in the tour. A few days ago, he commented that the emerald green Erdem coat she wore to Cambridge was “a bit bright.”

Despite what the Prince had to say, many still find the Princess to be quite amazing:

Kate had the last laugh however as she poked fun at her hubby’s bald spot. The royal couple visited the Royal Easter Show, one of Australia’s largest events, at Sydney Olympic park today. William and Kate watched a shearing demonstration and a local farmer picked up a tuft of alpaca fur that matched William’s hair color.

Kate grabbed the wool and said the Prince should put it on his head.

“You need it more than me,” she stated, and the pair shared a chuckle.

With a about a week left of their tour, and three or four wardrobe changes each day, royal followers are sure to wait with baited breath to see what the Princess will wear, and if her fashion critic husband has anything to say.
