  • Kate Hudson shared a photo on Instagram this week of her new short haircut, saying it’s for her upcoming movie Deepwater Horizon, and the pic is making the rounds across the web.

Hudson’s stylist, David Babaii, was responsible for the chopped locks, and he must have cut off more than Hudson thought he was going to, because she captioned the pic “First day on set of new film and they’re going to town on my hair.” Babaii was also behind Kate’s dramatic and head-turning updo for the Met Gala, which featured a beautiful floral headpiece that matched the theme of the night: China: Through The Looking Glass.

The actress hasn’t often done much more to her hair than part it differently, as she pretty much stays close to her natural blonde color and usually wears it fairly long. The new ‘do should keep her cool as she works on the film–which is about the BP oil spill–with her dad, Kurt Russell. The film also stars Mark Wahlberg and John Malkovich and focuses on the deadly oil rig explosion that occurred in 2010 and killed 11 people. 16 more were injured.

Kate Hudson has been busy lately; not only is she taking on more acting projects, she also has her own line of workout gear that is enjoying quite a bit of success. Back in March, rumors began to fly that she’s in talks to star in a Richard Pryor biopic as his wife Jennifer. The film is listed on her IMDB credits, but is marked as a rumor for now. Director Lee Daniels has been attached to the movie, and garnered a lot of attention earlier this year when he posted a photo of himself with Eddie Murphy, who is rumored to be taking on the role of Pryor’s father.
