  • Kanye West gave a lucid, candid interview to Seth Meyers on Tuesday night before performing a long medley of songs for the crowd, and in it he talked about how his daughter has changed everything for him. So much so, he says, that we can expect some very different music from him in the near future; “artistic, intellectual, kid-friendly songs”, to be exact.

Becoming a father to baby North (Kim Kardashian is mom) has changed his perspective on just about everything, he said, but don’t expect him to become the next Raffi anytime soon.

“It’d be like if you sat down and talked to Quentin Tarantino and was like, ‘Are you gonna make G-rated movies now?’ … It’s Quentin Tarantino,” he said.

West also talked about the Yeezus tour and why he chose to wear a scary-looking mask onstage for a portion of it, saying, “The mask is great,” Kanye said. “It’s freeing. A place where you can express yourself to your audience, to everyone, without being judged, without having to live up to whatever you represent, whatever your name means or doesn’t mean. To feel like a new artist again.”

The rapper made headlines in December after he kicked a fan out of a San Antonio concert for asking him to take the mask off.

“You can see my face on the Internet every motherfucking day,” he said onstage. “I came here, I open up a mountain…and you tryin’ to tell me how to give you my art….Do I look like a motherfucking comedian? Don’t fucking heckle me. I’m Kanye motherfucking West.”

West gave a rousing performance after the interview, doing a medley of seven hit songs for the ecstatic audience. You can watch the performance in its entirety here.
