  • The long-awaited, much-anticipated fourth film in the Jurassic Park series has been in various stages of production for awhile. Last summer, rumors that Steven Spielberg himself was holding meetings with possible screenwriters set the internet ablaze, and just a few weeks ago we heard that Rise of the Planet of the Apes writers Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver would helm the script. Although it doesn’t appear that Spielberg is going to get behind the camera himself.

But, we’re fairly positive that eventually, we’ll take a trip back to Jurassic Park. And now, that timeframe may have gotten a little more specific.

Collider had the chance to talk with producer Frank Marshall, who didn’t dodge questions about Jurassic Park 4. Instead, he gave us a pretty good idea on what to expect form the film –

“I would say that it will be on the screen within two years,” he said,

So, I’m no mathematician, but that sounds like a Summer 2014 blockbuster to me.

He also confirmed to Collider that it’s going to be a legit sequel – not a reboot. “That’s what’s gonna be great about it, technology’s taken a leap now that we can really do some great things,” he said.

As far as the cast – it’s anyone’s guess. Goldblum, Sam Neill, and Laura Dern have all been rumored. And no matter who is tapped to direct the film, it’s this core cast that would be needed to make it a true return to the magic of the 1993 original. For me, I only require two promises from the filmmakers: 1.) No dinosaur goes anywhere near New York & 2.) Goldblum is the failsafe. No Goldblum, no movie please.

    Oh, and no 3D.
