“Right now, he’s being processed at our facility,” said Chip Washington, a spokesman for the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office. “That’s about it for right now.”

When court workers informed Brown that they had no record of the case. Reports indicate that Brown then “lost control” and became “verbally abusive.”

The Commercial Appeal, states that Brown, 66, allegedly yelled at Juvenile Court Magistrate Harold “Hal” Horne during a child support hearing.

Horne instructed Brown to calm down, but he refused.

“He all but had that courtroom in a riot,” Juvenile Court Chief Magistrate Dan Michael told ABC News.

Judge Joe Brown was believed to be there representing a client accused of not paying child support, Michael said. According to Michael, Brown caused a spectacle in court by yelling and repeatedly challenging the juvenile court magistrate’s authority.

Horne had Brown arrested. He continued to protest, so Horne added four additional counts, making Brown’s sentence five days in jail.

Brown is currently running to be the top prosecutor in Shelby County. Memphis is the county seat. He is a former Shelby County, Tenn., Criminal Court judge.

Judge Brown’s reality TV show aired from 1998 to 2013 and was cancelled last year.
